HI! thanks for signing my guest book. You have a great talent for capturing wildlife..who knows? Maybe you'll be a famous nature photographer one day! Keep up the good work. If you have a zoom lense, try taking pictures at equestrian events. It's a lot of fun and will help you develop your accuracy in focusing quickly. I read your comments re the Fred Miranda site. I have tried for weeks off and on to register. Every user name I offer is bounced as already in use...I DON"T think so. I made up goofy ones just to try to get in. And I AM using a proper email address. Not only that, mail to their Customer service BOUNCES.

Hi Paul, This photos are realy incredible. I own a pentax 80 ed with 20-60 eyepiece and nikon cp 8400. But I can't get razor sharp images. The vignetting get lost nearly in max.zoom. So I decided to buy a wide angle zoom like xl 28. From another hand, many digiscopers advicing the W/O dcl-28. What is your assessment about this? Thank you for your interest.

Paul, what an incredible gallery! just "Googled" and found your website came up! and on Fred Miranda What a great site/gallery. WOWSER! I'm flying down to Florida end of January till Feb 8th. I'll be staying south of Sarasota, near Venice. I've heard of a place called Fort De Sota Beach, which is supposed to be great for bird-shooting. then I see your gallery and you've been there! Is this time of the year OK for shots? I will also try the Venice beach rookery, once I find it!. Also, I'll drive down to Ding Darling many suggestions. I have a Canon 5D. With a: 70-200mm IS 2.8: 70-300mm DO IS f/4.5; a Canon 400mm 5.6; Canon 24-105 IS f/4.0 a 1.4 ext and 2.0 ext. And several WIDE angle and primes, if needed.. Can't bring them all. What would be ideal? As far as Canon Custom functions for bird shooting: What do you suggest for C.Fn-04?(Shutter/AE lock) C.Fn-09?(Bracket sequence)..if needed C.Fn-18?(LCD display--> return to shoot) C.Fn-19?(Lens AF stop button) I assume, I'll be in M mode, or aperture priority at ISO=400(depending on light), panning mode if the lens has it(70-200 & 70-300), The ISO "400", panning/ af/ai-servo set up...aperture priority..shutter speed(1/500th or 1/800 or 1/1000)..and lots of practice. Does this set-up sound about right? Please help me customize. Tripod? Monopod? Better Beamer? Times? Could you help me with the Canon 5D set-up so I don't have to lose a 100 shots before I get it about right and can set up before the shoot? I Gather you have also done some digiscoping. Does the digiscoping provide the same crispness as the EF 400 lense? Im guessing no. I am trying to decide between digiscoping and digital slr with EF 400 and doubler. Thnx for any input Joe H. Remove "&&&&" for e-mail

Paul - I've enjoyed your 300d work immendsly. I'm in the research stage and your images have the look and quality I'd like to achive someday. You have a great shot of a cardninal with several views. In one you show "blur" being added; a VERY subtle improvement occurs. Can you point me to more info on this techique? I do have PS CS here. I understand (to some degree!) about USM, but I'm not clear on how you use blur to improve the shot. I'll be keeping a link to your gallery - great stuff! =Alan R.

Max, my birds in flight gallery is all with the canon 400mm f5.6L, any other birds shot with the digital rebel were using the sigma 50-500mm zoom.

Hello Paul, I really enjoy you work. I catch up on the 300D forum every day and so far have been just lurking. I purchased a 300D in mid October and have been very satisfied. I caught a picture of your 300D in one of your galleries and was wondering what lens you use to capture you bird pictures, I see many at 500mm and some that vary in the 300mm to 500mm range. I am also very interested in nature photography and have not yet invested in any lens greater than the 28 to 135mm IS lens. Can you please tell me what this lens is? Thank you for making your work available for viewing.

Paul, I love your shots. I saw a photo of your digital rebel with a Canon lenses and also one with another lenses. What do you use for your long shots? I appreciate seeing them because I've been curious how the rebel does, and to me they look very nice. Thanks Ken
