Your infrared images are stunning. I have been fascinated with the infrared photographs since I saw my first by Minor White a few months ago. I didn't know color infrared was possible. Can you share how you do it?

Are all of you infrared images taken with adapted infrared cameras or are some taken with filters?

How would you recommend someone get started with infrared imagery?

Thanks for the treat!

Bee Hummingbird: [Mellisuga heleae] Male has the pileum and throat fiery red,
the iridescent gorget with elongated lateral plumes,
rest of upperparts bluish,
rest of underparts mostly greyish white.
The female is green above,
whitish below with white tios to outer tail feathers.
More apt to be mistaken for a bee than a bird.
The male is the smallest of birds.
Woodland, shrubbery, garden. Cuba and the Isle of Pines.
Smallest bird in the world.
Two to Two in a half inch size bird.

Dear Stan,

I can only say that your pix a truly beautiful. You say that you shot some of the IR pix with a Leica Digilux 1 - I got one myself and wondered how you can turn it into an IR camera. Do you have to remove an internal filter or does it suffice to add an IR filter (like a deep red)?

Would be great hearing from you!

Hi Stan,
Thanks for the comment on my "patient swan". I love this image but thought I was the only one. No one has ever commented on it before.
I've just been admiring your infrareds. Wonderful galleries.
Kind regards,
Irene

Stan,

Your work is just beautiful. I am particularly struck by your infrared shots with your digilux.

It leaves me to wonder what the difference is between an infrared filter and a black filter?
(The digilux was my first digicam!)

very much enjoyed the art in both the straight and the enhanced images, as your sensitivity to beauty really comes through, and hope you'll be sharing more photo moments,
